CASA was recently commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council to help defend their refusal of the 160,000tpa waste treatment facility at Carnbroe, near Coatbridge. The project involved preparing a detailed defence of the initial refusal of the planning permission based on a detailed and robust needs analysis of the site and thorough review of the planning policies and options relating to the development. CASA prepared the defence within three weeks of appointment and over the Christmas period. We presented the defence at public inquiry which required a six hour turn round response to the implications of the new annex B to the zero waste plan.
